First Things is a collection of twelve lessons on themes connected to the core of our human experience—Communion, Home, Fire, Vision, Burden, Voice, Context, Discernment, Opportunity, Threats, Risk, and Courage. Each of the twelve themes begins by exploring the heart of God, which leads to implications for the people of God, and finally to considerations for preaching and leading in response to our call to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. The goal of the curriculum is a church leader with freshly invigorated, clarified, and effective vocation.

Brehm Preaching—A Lloyd John Ogilvie Initiative was established in 2009 as part of the Brehm Center for worship, theology, and the arts. Our vision is to catalyze a movement of empowered, wise preachers who do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, leading others to join God’s mission in the world.

Micah Groups is the primary program that brings this vision to life. To date, more than 1300 preachers and church leaders around the world have joined this multiethnic, transdenominational movement of men and women leading the church to address pressing issues of justice while serving an ever more fragmented church.
