The Cultural Practices in Spiritual Formation course will broaden your knowledge and imagination by sharing stories and examples of formation from a variety of cultures and communities. Through this course, you will explore the significance of story, land, and creation in Native American Spiritual Formation, learn the importance of communal worship and authenticity in African American Spiritual Formation, and understand the value of humility, suffering, and meditation in Asian American Spiritual Formation, among other topics. This course, led by Rev. Dr. Laura Murray, ordained pastor, author, and certified spiritual director, aims to foster curiosity and encourage you to recognize new voices that should be included in your understanding of spiritual formation, thus helping you reflect the heart of God better in your own life.

Laura Murray

Laura Murray is an ordained pastor, author, speaker, and certified spiritual director. For over 15 years she has worked closely with individual leaders and groups in the areas of leader development and spiritual formation. As the pastor of spiritual formation at Highland Park Pres, she wrote formational devotion guides and studies, and created and led worship services. She is currently working on her doctorate in Leading Change at Fuller Seminary. She is married to Craig, has two incredible children, an energetic pup, and lives in the Dallas area.
